A bit of haze is trying to climb uphill from our southern neighbors, otherwise we have sunny skies across the area this evening. Apart from some patchy clouds early this morning, and then a few cumulus clouds over the mountains from late morning into late afternoon, the sunshine has been in control once again. My high temperature in the upper part of town was 88.7F (31.5C), and there has been no rainfall in the past 24 hours.
A broad area of high pressure from the surface into the upper atmosphere dominates the weather pattern across northern India now. The flow of weak upper-level disturbances that brought occasional cloudiness, thunder, a few sprinkles of rain, and cooler temps for more than a week has been effectively cut off -- which means we're into a streak of quiet and very warm weather right into the weekend and beyond. There is always the risk of a rogue thundershower popping up, but no organized rain-makers are expected. The monsoon's advance remains slow, and well behind schedule, so we're not even yet to the place of being able to count on any pre-monsoon downpours developing.
Mid-summer heat is in progress further down the hill from us... with no lasting relief in sight. Up here at our 6000ft/1800m elevation, we should continue to be dealing with temperatures getting precariously close to the warmest of this season so far. The good news is that humidity levels remain low, and should stay there for a while longer...
