It's cloudy this evening, with comfortable temperatures. The day has balanced out in favor of clouds, despite the few sunny breaks we had from the morning into the mid-afternoon. There was some occasional thunder between 2:00 and 5:00pm... there may have been a shower or two somewhere around town, but I personally never witnessed a single raindrop. My high temp in the upper part of town was 78.4F (25.8C) -- the second day in a row below normal for early June.
A broad, lingering area of colder air aloft remains sprawled across the western Himalayan region. This upper-level system has been able to maintain a lot of cloudiness across northern Pakistan and northern India during the past 36 hours or so, but significant rainfall has been hard to come by. Computer models the last couple of days have overestimated the amount of rain, and underestimated the extent of cloudiness and cooling associated with this system. Still... thundershowers are roaming the landscape, and we could catch one or two of those overnight... with another chance of some development on Friday.
There are indications that the atmosphere will stabilize a bit over the weekend into early next week, but it looks like a classic pattern for mainly PM thunder development over the mountains, so despite an increase in sunshine, we could still get hit with a thundershower nearly any day. Temperatures should rise back into the summery warmth zone during the coming few days...
