thursday morning (16dec)>

there is an upper-level disturbance spinning through central asia at the moment, and it's stirring up a few clouds, and some rain and snow showers as close to us as kashmir.  this is the only fly in the ointment for the next several days...  but will only contribute to the chance of occasional clouds that will dim the winter sun.  temperatures all across the kangra district are steady, or slowly trending downward, and will continue to do so...

THURSDAY: sunshine, with a chance of a period of cloudiness.
high: 11C (52F)

monday morning (13dec)>

the weathergeek has been offline for a few days... still in minnesota, where we've just had 18" (46cm) of snow over the weekend, along with high winds creating blizzard conditions which caused the collapse of the roof of the metrodome, where the minnesota vikings were supposed to play the new york giants today.  also, i have a new nephew who was born the day before the snowstorm started...  (not that you came here to listen to all these excuses :-))

there have been some clouds and even some patches of fog around the area recently, and satellite pics this morning continue to show scattered areas of cloudiness over much of himalayan northern india.  there IS a risk of a brief shower (snowshowers above 2700m), but right now, no widespread or long-lasting precipitation is expected.

MONDAY: a mixture of clouds and sun, with a chance of a brief shower.
high: 12C (53F)

MONDAY NIGHT: still a risk of a sprinkle or brief shower, otherwise partly cloudy skies.
low: 6C (42F)

TUESDAY: partly sunny... can't rule out a sprinkle or two.
high: 11C (52F)

WEDNESDAY: partly to mostly sunny skies.
high: 11C (52F)

THURSDAY: mostly sunny.
high: 11C (52F)

FRIDAY: sunny to partly cloudy.

thursday morning (9dec)>

satellite photos show generally clear skies from kuwait city to kabul to karachi to kanpur to kathmandu this morning... meaning there is a lack of any organized weather systems from the persian gulf to northern india and nepal.  this quiet regime will continue for at least the next several days, as temps remain fairly steady.  the time of year has arrived when only direct sunlight will alleviate the late autumn chill...

THURSDAY: mostly sunny skies.
high: 13C (55F)

THURSDAY NIGHT: clear to partly cloudy.
low: 6C (43F)

FRIDAY: sunshine, with a chance of a few clouds in the afternoon.
high: 12C (54F)

SATURDAY: partly to mostly sunny.
high: 12C (54F)

SUNDAY: mostly sunny.
high: 12C (54F)

MONDAY: sunshine, but cool.
high: 12C (53F)

monday morning (6dec)>

for those of you checking the weathergeek blog... i am still in the US of A for another 6 weeks (busy, working, etc), so i apologize for the lapses in timely updates.  i am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things when i return in january... hopefully before we get our first dump of snow.!

i have been keeping an eye on the meteorological haps, but there has been very little to report.  this is our typical late autumn/early winter weather pattern here in the himalayan foothills.  lots and lots of sunshine, but since the days are very short this time of year, as soon as we lose the sun, it gets chilly.  as those of you who live here know... in the winter, it's all about which direction your windows face, in order to catch the sun.  temps down in dharamsala are now barely getting above 20C (68F) during the day, with overnight lows in the single digits C (39-46F) all across the area.  still no stormy weather in sight...

MONDAY: lots of sunshine.
high: 12C (54F)

MONDAY NIGHT: clear and cool.
low: 6C (43F)

TUESDAY: sunny to partly cloudy skies.
high: 12C (54F)

WEDNESDAY: sunshine, along with a few clouds at times.
high: 12C (53F)

THURSDAY: mostly sunny.
high: 12C (53F)

FRIDAY: still lots of sun around.
high: 11C (52F)
