It is mostly sunny early on this Saturday morning after a quiet and pleasantly mild night. I recorded an overnight low temp of 66.9F (19.4C). My 24 hour rainfall total here in the upper part of town was 0.10" (3mm) -- all of that happening between 2:00-4:00pm yesterday. Total rainfall for the month of June is only 0.29" (7mm), which is a very meager amount, considering we would expect at least 8" (20cm) by the end of a typical June. We have a long way to go!
The sunshine this morning is nice, but it could be deceiving. There are still some pockets of colder air aloft, and as surface heating gets cranked up later today, we could see some thundershowers erupt along the leading edge of the mountains. Be prepared for that if you plan to be away from shelter. The same scenario is possible on Sunday afternoon as well, but by Monday, there are hints that there will be a greater degree of stability, as temperatures continue to warm up throughout all layers of the atmosphere. With monsoon moisture remaining well to our south, we should see a good amount of sunshine heading into next week. Remember to check the tab at the top of the page for the very latest information on the advance of Monsoon 2012.
We've definitely had a break the last few days, temperature-wise, but it looks like a good possibility that we'll be back above normal within the next two or three days.
