*Update @ 8:07pm... My rain gauge shows 0.23" (6mm). Very little in the grand scheme of things, but this evening's showers have nearly doubled our rainfall for this unusually dry month of June.
*Update @ 7:29pm... We've had some healthy thundershowers in the area during the past hour or so, and I have 0.13" (3mm) in my rain gauge as of this moment. The temperature has dropped to a refreshing 71F (21.7C)!
-----
It's mostly cloudy and quite hazy around the area this evening, with an isolated shower or two in spots. Sun and clouds alternated back and forth for much of the day, but we did have a period of thick/dark clouds during the mid-afternoon which looked threatening. Nothing has come of it so far though -- I recorded no rainfall as of 5:00pm. Temperatures were a bit lower today, however, with the high in the upper part of town reaching just 84.9F (29.4C).
You probably noticed the surge in humidity today... it rose to about 45% at my place, which is higher than it's been in a few weeks. In Delhi, humidity reached almost 80% during the mid- to late morning hours -- a sign that the tropical moisture is beginning to arrive in north India. An upper-level circulation over Pakistan has been responsible for drawing some deeper moisture northward, but temperatures remain too warm aloft over north India to capitalize on the opportunity and deliver us any truly June-like rainfall amounts. Still, there's a risk of a few showers or a thundershower drifting through tonight and Tuesday.
The latter part of the week is starting to look interesting. Although rain chances don't look that great, there are signs that tropical humidity will be creeping northwestward across Nepal and the north Indian Himalayan region as the week goes on. It remains to be seen, but this could be the beginning of genuine pre-monsoon conditions. Stay tuned!!
