There are a few breaks in the overcast, otherwise skies are mostly cloudy early on this Thursday morning. My rain gauge is empty... so that leaves us with just a trace of rainfall during the past 24 hours. I've recorded an overnight low temp of 67.6F (19.8C), which is a bit warmer than yesterday's early morning low.
Satellite photos this morning show many large patches of cloudiness lingering across northeastern Pakistan and northern India, but it appears that rainfall remains rather sparse. Our weak upper-level system will be weakening further during the coming 24-36 hours, but if we can manage to get some sunshine to heat up the lower layers of the atmosphere, we'll be dealing with instability sufficient to stir up a few showers and thunderstorms once again. Lots of people will be attending the HHDL teachings at the Main Temple today through Saturday, so hopefully things stay fairly quiet as the crowds wander back and forth. Just be prepared for our usual mountain-induced changeability factor!
Warmer air should gradually return in the upper-levels of the atmosphere over the weekend into early next week, bringing us a greater degree of stability. Heat will also rebuild at the surface across northern India, although right now, it looks like we won't be warming to the levels we experienced late last week.
