We have a partly to mostly cloudy sky this Sunday evening, after a warm and dry day (so far). Humidity has been mainly in the 40-50% range today, but has been creeping up again this evening. I heard some brief thunder just before 3:00pm, but up to this point, isolated to widely scattered thundershowers have avoided the immediate area. My high temp in the upper part of town reached 85.8F (29.9C), which was a bit warmer than expected.
*Update @ 9:25pm... thick fog and light rain in progress. This is the first time this season I've seen fog like this.!
Satellite pics indicate clusters of thundershowers to our west, northeast and south, thanks to afternoon instability combined with some decent pockets of pre-monsoon tropical moisture in the area. Although today has been quiet up to this point, we could still see sudden development of showers and thunder tonight, and off-and-on as we progress through the coming week. Genuine monsoon conditions shouldn't make it as far as Himachal Pradesh this week, but tropical moisture will continue to surge back and forth along the front ranges of the mountains providing the fuel necessary for occasional healthy downpours of rain. Right now it looks like late Monday through early Thursday is the target for the most significant surge of that tropical moisture.
Periods of clouds and rain will cause temperatures to drop... but as we've witnessed today, several hours of late June sunshine can easily boost temps into the above normal range for this time of year. Fluctuation, of course, is to be expected during this pre-monsoon period...
