welcoming march... (am.01.mar.12)>

The month of March has arrived... and if nothing else, it is at least a great psychological boost to see January and February fading in the rear-view mirror.  We have another beautiful morning in progress.  Skies are totally clear, and I've recorded a pre-dawn low temp of 48.0F (8.9C).

As I mentioned last evening, I'm still afraid to be 100% confident in this calm and quiet weather scenario being painted for the next 3 day or so.  Although we have a weak high pressure ridge building in, there could be some instability generated during the afternoon (especially today), thanks to heating at the surface combined with some random pools of very cold air aloft.  In fact, one of the computer models is showing some scattered showers over the mountains.  So... we'll expect the early spring sunshine to dominate, but keep in mind that a random PM shower could pop up and drift through the area.

A more significant storm system continues to be advertised starting on Sunday, and continuing through early next week.  But, there will be some seriously mild air being drawn into Himachal in advance of that system... we should see the warmest temps of the year thus far...
