The new day is dawning with a 100% clear sky... and a (relatively) cool early morning low of 47.3F (8.5C). I say "relatively", because it was only a couple of weeks ago that we would have considered that to be a mild early morning temp.
March entered "lamb-like" for the most part, despite the clouds during the afternoon and the widely scattered sprinkles and light showers during the early evening. I'll have to admit that today is a question mark... all the data points to a fabulous day, with plenty of sun, and temperature warming just above 60F. But there are likely still some pockets of very cold air hovering around in the upper atmosphere, which could combine with the daytime heating of the surface to produce big clouds over the mountains again... along with a random shower or two. It's one of those "micro-climate" effects that we have to deal with so often here. Anyway, plan for a sunny morning... but don't be surprised if it gets a little gray again during the PM. If it doesn't, then hurray for us.
All week we've been talking about a surge of warmer air on the way this weekend, and it still appears to be on schedule. We'll likely have the warmest temps of 2012 from Saturday through Monday, but also an increasing chance of some rain and thunderstorms. Right now, Monday looks to hold the best potential for some significant rainfall amounts... possibly greater than an inch. Stay tuned as all that develops...
