A bright and pleasant morning is underway, as the sun begins to peek over the mountains. Still unseasonably cool, however... I've recorded an overnight low temp of 46.2F (7.9C).
There are some major changes in the works, and I'm excited to see how it all plays out for us during the coming 3-4 days. The first major surge of truly warm air is building on the plains of north India... not only at the surface, but in the middle and upper atmosphere as well. All of the computer models are in agreement that temperatures will be on the rise, starting today, and dramatically so through the weekend. I mentioned last night that one computer model is showing a high temperature of 31C (88F) for Kangra on Sunday... with 35-37C (95-99F) in the forecast for Delhi by Monday! If these projections are true, then we will definitely be seeing 21C (70F)++ temps here in McLeod for the first time this season.
Of course we have micro-climate effects that often play "spoiler" here on the front ranges of the mountains, by causing an intrusion of warmer air to be converted into clouds and thundershowers, so we'll have to watch carefully to see how this all unfolds. Right now, I am fairly confident that we'll be experiencing a major warm-up, with at least a decent amount of sunshine to go along with it.
