imperfect perfection... (pm.01.mar.12)>

The sun is shining again this evening, after a few hours of general cloudiness during the middle of the afternoon.  I recorded a high temp of 60.1F (15.6C), which occurred just after 1:00pm.  There have been a few sprinkles and light showers scattered around mainly the upper parts of town late this afternoon... in fact, there is a "sun shower" in progress at the main square at the moment.

Cumulus clouds exploded over the mountains late this morning, and gradually infringed upon our sunshine.  It looked pretty ominous for a couple of hours, but from what I gather, the vast majority of the rain and snow shower activity remained well above us.  Today's mountain instability indicates yet again that there remains some very cold air aloft, despite the quiet weather pattern in place.  It should warm up in the mid- and upper-levels of the atmosphere tomorrow to stabilize that situation, but I don't expect 100% sunny skies.

The next significant weather system continues to take shape way off to our west.  As it develops and moves into the western Himalayan region this weekend, it will draw some very mild, springtime air northward in advance of its arrival.  One computer model is forecasting 28C (82F) for Kangra on Monday!  That is definitely a change of season.  Shower and thunderstorm chances will also be on the increase... especially for Sunday and Monday...
