It was great to pull back the curtains this morning and see a bright eastern sky, considering all the storminess (again) overnight. We had another round of rain, thunder, and hail in the 2 to 4AM range which left us with an additional 0.76" (1.9cm) in the rain gauge. There is still hail on the ground and rooftops here in the upper part of town. In case you've been keeping track... that is now 2.52" (6.4cm) of rain since the very first showers began on Sunday morning. The early morning low dipped to 45.5F (7.5C) during the hail.
It looks like we'll be seeing more sun today than we've had since Saturday, which is going to make it feel more pleasant. But a steady stream of weak upper-level disturbances and associated pools of cold air aloft are expected at least through Thursday... keeping us in line for more periods of cloudiness, along with a few scattered showers and thundershowers. We shouldn't see as much rain as we've had during the past 36-48 hours, for the rest of the week... but be prepared for the appearance of sudden showers and/or thunder, especially during the afternoons and evenings.
Temperatures will be on the cool side for March... but the "comfort" factor will have everything to do with the presence (or lack thereof) of sunshine. Even with coolish temps, the sun's angle and the duration of daylight are increasing day by day... so that's some consolation.
