only a few clouds in the sky before sunrise this morning... no fog... and a cool temp of 15C/59F. here's a look at the current rainfall tally:
SEPTEMBER
-near main temple... 14.85" (37.7cm)
-upper mcleod ganj... 14.08" (35.8cm)
MONSOON SEASON
-upper mcleod ganj... 85.37" (216.8cm)
i'm encouraged by what i see this morning... we've been anticipating a surge of drier air starting today, and lasting into the first part of the weekend... and it does look promising at the moment. humidity is much lower, the atmosphere has stabilized, and the satellite pics are showing very little action across north india. having said that... it won't take too much sunshine this morning to start evaporating all the moisture in the ground... so i do expect increasing clouds and some fog by mid-day. there is still a risk of a period of showers during the afternoon today, but that chance will be smaller tomorrow and on friday. although his will be a welcome break, there are strong indications that monsoon conditions will AGAIN surge northward into the area starting as early as saturday afternoon.. so don't get too attached to the idea that the monsoon is gone for good.!
