saturday evening (18sep)>

visibility is only about a hundred meters in thick fog this evening, after a day of alternating sun, fog and clouds.  we've now had 72 hours (3 full days) without rain.. first time that's happened since the middle of july.  today's high temp in upper mcleod ganj was 21.5C/70.7F

despite three rainless days, it's hard to declare the end of the monsoon season when there is enough moisture in the air to produce a few hours of fog everyday.  although we are CLOSE to the end, we're still waiting on a strong enough surge of dry air from the northwest to chase all this tropical moisture away for good.  actually, we're going to be heading in the opposite direction during the next few days... as saturated air just to our southeast continues to ease westward, back into our area.  i thought a shower or two might develop today, but it hasn't happened yet... rain chances will continue to increase though, with a chance of a round of heavy rain at some point between now and tuesday.  our total rainfall for the monsoon season has been stuck on about 86" (218cm) for the last few days, but we could easily end up with 90"+ before all is said and done...
