the sky is 99% clear before sunrise here in upper mcleod ganj... with a temperature of 14C/57F. there was no additional rainfall overnight, which leaves the 24 hour total at just 0.05" (1mm).
well wonder of wonders... our good friends in delhi at the india meteorological department have said that "conditions are now favorable for the withdrawal of the monsoon from northwest india". that is a good confirmation of what we've been anticipating for the past several days. things are looking progressively brighter, as a brisk west-northwesterly upper-air flow establishes itself across the area... which will cause a strong area of high pressure to develop at the surface, over rajasthan. already, most of the deep monsoon moisture has been swept out, but over the next few days, drier and more stable air will begin to dominate. as i've mentioned several times... we need 5 days in a row without measurable rain to get an "official" declaration of monsoon withdrawal... but until that happens, we can certainly enjoy the fruits of this welcome transition...
