cloudy with patches of fog and some sprinkles of light rain early this morning... and a temp of 16C/61F. only hit-and-miss light showers here overnight (not enough to measure), but a cluster of huge thunderstorms passed just to our south... across punjab, chandigarh, extreme southern HP, into uttar anchal around dehra dun.
our satellite pics this morning show quite a bit of cloud cover across northern india... although some clearing is evident near the pakistan border. it looks like we'll have to endure a few more days of ambiguous late-monsoon weather... with that rapidly changing mix of sun, clouds, fog, showers and even thunderstorms. we will see all of it between now and tuesday, so be prepared. although we haven't seen much heavy rain in the past 48 hours or so, heavy downpours could develop at any time... mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. that surge of drier, post-monsoon air STILL looks like it will show up during the middle of the week.
by the way... the end of the monsoon season is characterized by the retreat of the deep tropical moisture responsible for the nearly saturated airmass and persistent fog. keep in mind that after the monsoon is officially "over", we can still get periods of rainy weather, and big thunderstorms... just LOTS more sun in between, and much much lower humidity. something to look forward to...
