skies are mostly cloudy this evening, with some patches of fog passing in and out. we had some nice periods of sun today, but also some clouds, fog, thunder, and brief showers. i measured just 0.05" (1mm) of rain, along with a high temp of 19.5C/67F.
well... it's obvious from the fog this evening that the monsoon moisture hasn't been completely swept out of here. but... the process is in motion, thanks to a gradual shift to westerly winds which has already begun aloft, and will transfer down to the surface over the weekend. there is still a shower/thundershower risk tonight, but it looks like rain chances will decrease to near zero thereafter. of course, according to the india met department, we must have 5 days in a row without measurable rain in order to declare an official END to the monsoon, but that is looking like a mere technicality at this point. trekkers, campers, picnickers and outdoor enthusiasts of any kind can finally start enjoying the change of seasons...
