thursday morning (16sep)>

skies are mostly clear early this morning, with a temp of 15C/59F at the top of mcleod ganj.  no additional rainfall overnight, but yesterday afternoon and evening we received amounts ranging from 0.40" (1cm) in upper mcleod ganj to 0.50" (1.3cm) in naddi village.

our deep monsoon moisture is in retreat mode... and that means steady improvement in our weather conditions will continue for the next 2-3 days.  this morning's satellite pics are showing quiet weather across all of northern india and eastern pakistan... with very few clouds to be seen, much less any areas of precipitation.  that means SUNSHINE galore for a few hours this morning, before clouds and a bit of fog develop, in response to the surface heating.  although there will be no organized areas of rain during the next 48hrs+, the mountain effect will be enough to give us some isolated to widely scattered showers or thundershowers during the afternoons and early evening hours.  the longer range outlook still shows a return of tropical moisture by very late saturday or sunday... which means we may not be completely finished with monsoon conditions for this year...
