there is a mix of clouds, fog, and peeks of sun around the area this evening, and it seems that the rain has ended for the time being. i recorded 0.92" (2.3cm) today... the vast majority of that occurred between 3 and 4:30pm. the high temp was 77.9F (25.5C), with humidity above 70% for much of the day.
we've had a nice healthy dose of monsoon conditions today... our airmass is finally taking on the true characteristics of monsoon season, as moisture from the surface into the mid-levels of the atmosphere continues to increase. we'll see if this moisture is really here to stay this time, or if it will be pushed back to the south and east. there are still a lot of discrepancies between the three main computer models... with one forecasting an onslaught of tropical moisture and heavy rain, one keeping us mainly dry, and another one somewhere in between. i think the best call is to trend toward increasing humidity and rainfall as we head into the weekend.
you never know what the IMD (india met department) will decide to do, but i think there's a good chance we could have an official monsoon declaration in the next 4-5 days...
