sunshine is peeking through the clouds this evening after a brief thundershower which brought just 0.01" to my rain gauge at the top of mcleod ganj. there was a good amount of sunshine this morning, but clouds quickly thickened during the mid-day hours... with a period of very dark overcast between about 2:30 and 5:00pm. the high temp reached 77.9F (25.5C)... with humidity topping 60% at times.
satellite pics show a scattering of mostly weak, light thundershower activity over the mountains from kashmir through himachal into uttar anchal, but at this point, there isn't anything with any muscle to be seen. there is now a lot of moisture in the air, but with warmer temps and very little dynamic energy in the upper-levels, it's not terribly unstable. it looks like the upper air pattern will change very little during the coming week, but moisture is going to remain on the increase. that means we'll continue with the chance of thundershowers during mainly the afternoon and overnight hours... one or two of which could dump some heavy rainfall.
temperatures will be largely dependent on sunshine... we've had a hard time getting past the 80F barrier during the past week, but that could change any day this week, and the humidity will make it feel even warmer.
MONDAY NIGHT: partly to mostly cloudy skies. humid, with a period of thundershowers possible.
low: 21C (69F)
TUESDAY: a mix of clouds and sun. chance of a thundershower, mainly in the PM.
high: 27C (80F)
WEDNESDAY: partly sunny, warm and humid. a shower or thunderstorm possible.
high: 27C (80F)
THURSDAY: partly sunny and muggy. slight chance of a thunderstorm.
high: 27C (80F)
FRIDAY: humid with hazy sunshine and some clouds. a thunderstorm possible.
high: 27C (80F)
SATURDAY: more pre-monsoon mugginess... clouds, sun and a chance of a thunderstorm.
high: 26C (79F)
