clouds are clinging to the mountains this evening... while the sun shines further down the hill. we've only had fleeting glimpses of sun today, and that held our high temp to just 75.2F (24C). although there has been no rainfall as of this posting, humidity crept up another few percentage points today... it's been hovering right around 70-72%.
nothing very dramatic to report... the upper air pattern is calm and quiet, surface moisture continues to increase, and the official leading edge of monsoon conditions remains well to our south and east. what we've experienced the last two or three days is very typical of the pre-monsoon days... periods of sun - occasional thick clouds and some fog - gradually rising humidity - periodic heavy downpours. when the wall of deep, tropical moisture finally engulfs us, we'll see fog which lasts for many hours and sometimes days on end, along with rainfall rates which average at least 1" (2.5cm) per day. this is what we have to look forward to by the end of the month!
in the meantime, get caught up on laundry, make sure your umbrella is in working condition, and that you know how to lay hands on your other wet weather gear! and> be prepared for sudden heavy downpours which could dump a half inch to an inch of rain in just an hour's time.
