mostly cloudy at dawn
current temp: 64.9F (18.3C)
rainfall 8:30-9:30pm: 0.91" (2.3cm)
rainfall 12:30-3:00am: 0.22" (6mm)
total rainfall past 12 hours: 1.13" (2.9cm)
the thunderstorm last night right around 9:00pm was definitely the most potent of the pre-monsoon season thus far. nearly an inch of rain fell in less than a half hour, overwhelming all of the drainage ditches and gullies.! just a taste of what we'll be dealing with almost daily by this time next month. by the way, i've reposted the monthly rainfall averages for dharamsala (tab above), so you can see the dramatic increase in the amount of rain we start receiving in june.
it is another gloomy morning, with only a few breaks in the clouds. i think we'll see more sun today than during the past couple of days, and temperatures will try to warm up a bit... but this northeasterly flow off the mountains since tuesday night/wednesday morning has chased the truly summertime air pretty far down the hill. it will gradually come back over the weekend, as the atmosphere realigns itself, and our upper-air flow shifts more westerly.
some of the computer models are still insisting that the thundershower potential is going to all but disappear during the next few days, but considering the fact that we've had at least some measurable rainfall on 8 of the last 10 days, i am much more inclined to keep rogue showers and storms in the forecast, mainly during the afternoon and overnight hours.
FRIDAY: a mix of sun and clouds. a thundershower or two possible this afternoon.
high: 26C (78F)
FRIDAY NIGHT: chance of a period of thundershowers, otherwise partly cloudy.
low: 19C (66F)
SATURDAY: partly cloudy and warmer, with an isolated PM thunderstorm possible.
high: 27C (81F)
SUNDAY: hazy sunshine and some clouds, with a risk of an afternoon thunderstorm or two.
high: 28C (82F)
MONDAY: warm, with sunshine, haze and mainly PM clouds. slight chance of a thunderstorm.
high: 28C (83F)
TUESDAY: partly sunny with a thundershower or two possible.
