filtered sunshine... (am.11.jun.11)>

a quiet and pleasant early morning in progress... some scattered high clouds are moving into the area, and the pre-dawn low temperature has been 68F (20C).  there was no rainfall overnight, and no measurable rainfall in the past 24 hours.

satellite pics show an area of mostly thin, high cloudiness spreading in from the west... leftovers from a batch of thunderstorms which moved across northern pakistan overnight.  otherwise, there is no active weather over the western himalayan region, for a change.  our upper-level flow is shifting to the west and northwest, which is allowing warmer air to filter in, in all levels of the atmosphere.  this pattern has also allowed us to dry out during the last day or so.  we should see a good amount of sunshine today, but instability will build towards the mid-afternoon hours, leading to a chance of a period of thundershowers.  in fact, there could be a round of showers and storms on any of the next several days, in the midst of hazy sunshine and some clouds, as our pre-monsoon humidity increases.

temperatures have been a bit topsy-turvy so far this month... we've had a handful of very warm days, and a handful of pleasant ones.  it appears that we're back in a trend toward rising temps this weekend into early next week, but i'm not expecting anything unusually warm for this time of year...
