skies are mostly cloudy this evening... but we had a few hours of nice sunshine during much of the morning into the early afternoon. clouds quickly developed over the mountains around 1:00pm, but as far as i've seen or heard, there has been no thunder and no rain (yet) today. i recorded a high temp of 77.5F (25.3C) just below the mountaineering center at the top of mcleod ganj.
the satellite view shows that things are much quieter this evening than they've been at this time during the past 3 days. although there are clouds over the mountains from kashmir through himachal into uttar anchal, there are only one or two weak, isolated showers at this point. this is a sign that the upper-level low pressure system just to our northeast is finally breaking down. high pressure aloft will gradually take over during the weekend into early next week... allowing a warm-up in all levels of the atmosphere. however, moisture will be increasing, so any instability during the afternoon and overnight hours could trigger a round of showers and thunderstorms. we'll enjoy some sunny periods during the next few days, but the rain potential will always be near.
it will be increasingly warm and muggy... but in the event of a thunderstorm, we'll get to enjoy at least a few hours of natural air conditioning. so far, the month of june has been wetter and cooler than normal...
FRIDAY NIGHT: partly cloudy skies. chance of a thunderstorm moving through after midnight.
low: 19C (67F)
SATURDAY: partly cloudy and warmer. a shower or thundershower possible, mainly in the PM.
high: 27C (80F)
SUNDAY: a mix of sunshine and some clouds. warm and humid, with a risk of an afternoon thunderstorm.
high: 27C (81F)
MONDAY: partly cloudy, warm and muggy, with a chance of a thunderstorm.
high: 28C (82F)
TUESDAY: hazy sunshine and some clouds. a PM thundershower possible.
high: 27C (81F)
WEDNESDAY: partly sunny, warm and muggy. thunderstorms possible.
high: 27C (81F)
