yesterday's high temp: 82.2F (27.9C)
this morning's low temp: 72.0F (22.2C)
24 hour rainfall: none (as of 6am)
we have mostly cloudy skies just before sunrise this morning, the humidity stands at about 70%... and thunder is rumbling. satellite pics show no organized areas of rain in our neighborhood, but there is a lot of moisture in place, and the atmosphere is increasingly unstable.
the combination of warmth and humidity the last couple of days have made it arguably the most uncomfortable period of the entire summer season... and it looks like it won't relent until the more consistent and persistent rains begin. with all this moisture in the air, along with changes in the upper-air pattern, we will be seeing the chance of thunder and heavy downpours of rain increasing during the remainder of the week. there has recently been absolutely no agreement or consistency between the various computer models regarding either temperatures or rain chances... but at least one of them is pointing to very heavy rainfall in our area by this weekend. umbrellas have been out of service again, going on three days... but it's probably a good idea to make sure they are a part of our standard equipment.
as clouds increase and sunshine fades, temperatures will dip... but in general, humidity should be on the rise right through the coming weekend...
