the air is fresh, visibility is good, and we have a mix of clouds and some peeks of sunshine this evening. we had some thunder and a few rain showers, mainly between noon and about 4pm, but it amounted to just 0.25" (6mm). the high reached 74.5F (23.6C) thanks to sunshine during the mid to late morning.
although the month of june has been wetter and cooler than normal, we have the northwesterly flow in the upper atmosphere to thank (or blame), as opposed to an early monsoon. yes, surface moisture/humidity is increasing, pretty much on schedule, but it is the persistent flow of cool air aloft from central asia that has kept the atmosphere rather unstable and showery, and held down our temperatures. one year ago, it was still around 86-89F (30-32C) at this time!
the monsoon is making progress over eastern and north-central india recently, but is having a really hard time pushing into the northwest third of the country. practically, for us, it matters little... as we will continue to see nearly daily doses of rain and thunder, some passing fog, and humidity that is now starting to push into the 75% range during parts of the day. the only thing distinguishing this from genuine monsoon conditions is the regular return to clear visibility and periods of nice sunshine. we're still waiting for humidity to rise consistently and persistently above 80% to allow the clouds and fog to take over the show...
SATURDAY NIGHT: partly cloudy and comfortable... slight chance of an overnight thundershower.
low: 19C (66F)
SUNDAY: some sun...some clouds... some fog. a period or two of rain and thunder.
high: 24C (75F)
MONDAY: a bit of sun in the midst of clouds and some fog. a few showers and thundershowers around.
high: 23C (74F)
TUESDAY: partly to mostly cloudy. humid with periods of fog. good chance of some rain and thunder.
high: 23C (73F)
WEDNESDAY: clouds, fog, a peek or two of sun. occasional showers.
high: 23C (73F)
THURSDAY: partly to mostly cloudy and foggy with periods of rain and thunder.
high: 22C (72F)
