skies are partly cloudy this evening, with a few sprinkles and light showers in the area during the past hour or so. there was a period of moderate rain and thunder around 3pm... which has given us a respectable 0.36" (9mm) of rain so far today. a beautiful sunny morning allowed our high temp to reach 78.1F (25.6C), but as expected, clouds developed very rapidly right around the noon hour.
there are more showers and thunderstorms upstream to our northwest over the southwestern quarter of kashmir, and if they don't die out with the setting sun, they will drift into our area during the late evening. the upper air pattern is becoming more and more typical of the pre-monsoon days... very light winds with fairly uniform temperatures up there. moisture continues to increase and cluster along the front range of the himalayas from nepal and uttar anchal into himachal pradesh and southern kashmir, even though the rich, bonafide monsoon moisture remains well to the south for now. this pattern will change little in the coming four or five days... providing us with periods of hazy, humid sunshine, afternoon clouds, and occasional rounds of showers with thunder.
it looks like temperatures are going nowhere, due to the afternoon warming being stifled by the quick build-up of clouds. we'll remain near or slightly below normal into the weekend...which is kind of a gift.
TUESDAY NIGHT: partly cloudy skies, with thundershowers in the area until midnight.

high: 26C (79F)
THURSDAY: partly sunny and muggy. risk of a thundershower, mainly in the afternoon/evening.

FRIDAY: mix of hazy sun and clouds. humid, with a PM thundershower possible.
