we have mostly clear skies at sunrise, with a temp of 68.4F (20.2C). there were a few sprinkles and very light showers after dark last night... but the 24 hour rainfall total stands at 0.36" (9mm), most of which occurred between 2 and 4pm yesterday afternoon. there were some showers and thunderstorms overnight mainly south of us... and this morning satellite photos show the cloud remnants covering much of the southern half of himachal.
with the leading edge of the real monsoon conditions still hung up across the southern and eastern portions of india, we will remain in this limbo pre-monsoon state for several more days at least. a moderate amount of moisture is in place, the flow in the upper atmosphere is from the north-northwest, while at the surface, a southerly breeze is trying to pull warm air up from the south. this combination will keep us in line for scattered showers and some thunder during mainly the afternoon, evening and overnight hours. hazy sunshine will be confined mostly to the mornings. humidity readings here at the top of mcleod ganj have been hitting 60% at times during the last couple of days... so it is noticeably muggy... especially if you're walking up stairs and hills!
fortunately, our temperatures have stayed fairly comfortable... highs have been between 75-80F (24-27C) for the past week. we should hold in that range into the weekend...
