the day started bright and sunny, and is ending bright and sunny... with plenty more bright and sunny in between. what a day for the first week of june! usually it is either muggy, hot and hazy, or stormy this time of year, but today was one for the history books. the high temp reached 82.2F (27.9C) which, although slightly cooler than normal, was the warmest in 10 days, while humidity remained comfortably low.
satellite pics are showing only isolated weak thundershowers over some of the higher mountain peaks of the western himalayas this evening... otherwise it is calm and quiet all across our region. there are no ominous features appearing in our weather pattern, and that should remain the case for the next several days. the typical summertime thundershowers could pop up over the mountains and drift downhill on any given afternoon or evening (as we all know), but otherwise, sunny and increasingly hazy skies, along with a few PM cumulus clouds will be the rule right into the middle of next week.
i've been holding out to make sure the warming trend advertised by the computer models is for real, but based on today's jump into the low 80s(F), i am becoming more confident that we could see some of the highest temps of the season between tomorrow and thursday. so far, our warmest day of 2011 was 16 may, when we reached 86.5F (30.3C).
