unstoppable warm-up... (am.21.apr.11)>

a beautiful morning... clear skies and 57.2F (14C).  satellite photos indicate a wide area of clear skies from the arabian sea through northern india, except for a couple of patches of mid-level clouds over northern pakistan.

low pressure aloft, and its associated pool of cold air, is all that remains of the recent storm system that brought record april rainfall to the area.  this feature will continue to provide a bit of instability during the afternoon today, which means that some clouds and isolated thundershowers could still pop up over the mountains for a few hours.  but that is really the only fly in the ointment of a weather scenario that is looking nicer and nicer by the day.

the upper-air pattern is changing completely from what we have been seeing for the last several weeks.  high pressure is building aloft, which means that temperature from the surface up to jetstream level will be on the rise.  there is no trace of any organized storm system for the next week, at least.  as of yesterday, temperatures have already rebounded into the comfort zone... but expect some genuine summer-time warmth by easter sunday!

THURSDAY: lots of sun this morning, with skies becoming partly cloudy during the PM.  a brief shower/thundershower possible over the mountains.

MONDAY: mostly sunny with near summer-like temps.
