i have a pre-sunrise temperature of 66.7F (19.3C) this morning, under mostly clear but hazy skies. satellite pics show a large batch of mainly high, thin cirrus clouds to our west.
well we're down to the final three days of april, and it looks like the month is going to wind down with very close to normal weather for this time of year, after a month that has been generally abnormal. a broad area of weak high pressure remains anchored in the upper atmosphere from afghanistan into india, which continues to prevent any organized storm systems from moving through the area. on the other hand, during the next several days, there are going to be a few little "jiggles and wiggles" aloft, combined with an occasional pool of cold air up around 5000m/16,000ft. with all the heat still building down at the lower elevations, this is going to be the recipe for an extended period of moderate instability over the mountains. that means we have at least a mentionable chance of a thundershower on any given afternoon. right now, i think the best chances (just 30% or so) would be today and tomorrow, and again on monday... but it will have to be watched on a day-by-day basis.
believe it or not, temperatures are STILL warming up just to our south, so despite our slightly cooler day yesterday, we could easily warm back into the 80s(F)/27-29C. and... unless we get a nice shot of rain, the haze isn't going anywhere...
THURSDAY: hazy sunshine this morning, then becoming partly cloudy. there is a risk of a thundershower this afternoon.
high: 27C (81F)
THURSDAY NIGHT: an evening shower/thundershower possible, then clearing skies.
low: 20C (68F)
FRIDAY: a mix of haze, sun and clouds, with a chance of a PM thundershower.
high: 28C (82F)
SATURDAY: partly sunny skies... very warm.
high: 28C (83F)
SUNDAY: partly to mostly sunny and warm.
high: 28C (83F)
MONDAY: slight chance of a thundershower, otherwise partly cloudy, hazy and warm again.
