clouds are just starting to break up after a period of overcast skies which started just after 2pm. our morning was sunny, but there definitely is some colder air filtering in aloft, which created enough instability to generate the mountain clouds. at the same time, the haze is thickening on the plains... so our string of about 4 days of unlimited sunshine may be at an end. i recorded a high temp of 82.0F (27.8C) during the noon hour.
summer time heat is getting into full swing on the plains of north india. temperatures have already reached 40C (104F) in delhi and amritsar, with 39C (102F) in chandigarh. we are now into the time of year when we can be very grateful for our elevation benefits! the overall weather pattern is not expected to change for the next few days, but the subtle decrease in upper-level temperatures is going to put us back into the mode of morning sun/afternoon clouds for the rest of the week. there is also a chance that isolated thundershowers could develop in the mountains... and it's not out of the question that we could see one of these drift into mcleod during the afternoon. measurable rainfall isn't likely, but don't be surprised by the potential interruption.
temperatures will probably rise another one or two degrees this week, while our atmosphere continues to become more and more influenced by the trapped dust and pollution to our south. it seems april will end very differently than it began...
TUESDAY NIGHT: becoming clear. quite warm.
low: 21C (69F)
