we have partly cloudy and hazy skies just before sunset this evening. the clouds didn't thicken up as much this afternoon as yesterday, but it seemed to me that there was more haze in the air. and for whatever reason, temperatures were a few degrees cooler today. i had a high temp of just 77.2F (25.1C), which was our coolest since last friday.
our strong ridge of high pressure has been showing signs of breaking down during the past 24 hours or so, and although there are no significant disturbances in sight, things are becoming a bit more unstable than they've been in over a week. there are some random pockets of colder air in the upper atmosphere that will be drifting through during the next few days, which could be enough to muster up some isolated thundershower action over the mountains. in fact, this afternoon there were a few of those up in lahaul/spiti, and from near mandi into kinnaur. it won't take much for a weak thundershower to pop up over the dhauladars one of these afternoons, so keep that in mind.
we've been very fortunate not to get the hot temperatures this far uphill... yet. i am tempted to trim back our temps a couple of degrees for the remainder of this week, but it will only take a bit of a stronger breeze from the south-southwest during the mid-day hours for us to warm up dramatically... so let's see what happens. at any rate, we'll be staying in the category of comfortable to warm right through the forecast period...
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: becoming mostly clear overnight.
low: 19C (67F)
THURSDAY: partly cloudy and hazy, with a risk of a PM thundershower.
high: 27C (81F)
FRIDAY: a mix of sun, clouds and haze. still a chance of a thundershower, mainly during the afternoon.
high: 28C (82F)
SATURDAY: partly sunny skies. very warm.
high: 28C (83F)
SUNDAY: partly to mostly sunny.
high: 28C (83F)
MONDAY: a mix of clouds and sun. an afternoon thundershower possible.
high: 28C (83F)
