it is 67.8F (19.9C) at the top of mcleod ganj, just below the mountaineering center at dawn this morning. that's the warmest early morning temp i've recorded this year. our skies are clear.
our bold and consistent warming trend is entering its seventh day... and it looks like temperatures will continue to slowly climb for another few days at least. there are a couple of subtle changes which will have to be watched, however. the first one concerns the heat which is building on the plains just to our south. the atmosphere is very stable there, and the dust and pollution is trapped, which is already leading to lower visibilities and hazy skies. the second concern is some slightly cooler air aloft which is going to be moving in over the mountains during the next few days. it may generate just enough instability to set off some random afternoon thundershowers along the dhauladars. any rainfall should be light (and probably not even measurable if it makes it into mcleod ganj), but trekkers and campers, etc, should be aware of the situation.
other than that... expect sunshine to remain the dominant weather feature right into the weekend, with temperatures safely in the early summer zone to finish off the month of april.
TUESDAY: sunny this morning... but hazy and becoming partly cloudy this afternoon. warming continues.
