the day is ending as it began, with 100% cloudy skies. but in between, we did get a few nice periods of sunshine, which boosted my thermometer up to a high of 73.9F (23.3C). there were a few sprinkles of rain very early this morning... but so far... no measurable precipitation for the day.
i am going to go out on a limb and say that there is pretty close to a 100% chance of significant rainfall during the next 36-48 hours. in fact, a couple of our computer models are forecasting greater than 3cm (1.2") between now and mid-day monday. i think that's very reasonable, considering the strength of the storm system moving into northern india at the moment. as of this writing, thunderstorms are erupting as far south as western and northern gujarat... which is almost unheard of this time of year. the center of this intense upper-level disturbance will plow through himachal pradesh tomorrow into monday morning... so that's when i expect the heaviest rain and thunderstorm activity to occur.
we should see rapid improvement on tuesday... with much quieter and brighter weather for the middle of the coming week. temperatures will take a major hit with the onslaught of this system, but will recover slowly by thursday. stay tuned for storm updates, if/when they become necessary.
