we have clear skies and some light haze before sunrise... and the early morning low temp has been 67.8F (19.9C). there was quite a bit of lightning in the northwestern sky last night until after 9pm, but satellite photos this morning show that those kashmiri thunderstorms died out quickly.
widely scattered thundershowers are likely to develop along the front ranges of the himalayas once again this afternoon, in response to the building heat at the lower elevations colliding with some pockets of colder air aloft. i don't expect significant rainfall at this point, but be prepared for the potential for a random afternoon thundershower... not only today, but on just about any given afternoon during the next several days.
hazy sunshine will remain the main weather feature, however... as high pressure in the upper atmosphere remains sprawled out across the sub-continent. it looks like we are in for another phase of warming, with temperatures likely to rise another few degrees between now and the first part of next week. in fact, unless we get hit with one of these afternoon thundershowers, the build-up of this early summer heat looks unstoppable...
