skies are cloudy just after sunset this evening, with a few sprinkles and very light showers around the area. after our very very wet morning, it was a little nicer during the afternoon. total rainfall since midnight is as follows:
-upper mcleod ganj: 2.39" (6.1cm)
-near the main temple: 2.20" (5.6cm)
-naddi village: 2.0" (5.1cm)
impressive for a day in april! my high temp was 64.1F (17.8C), thanks to some brief appearances of the sun during the mid-afternoon hours.
unfortunately, this rainy weather is not over yet. our upper-level storm system is centered over western kashmir this evening, and there is still quite a lot of thunderstorm development occurring across himalayan north india. i think there is a 60-70% chance that we could see another one or two rounds of heavy rain between now and tomorrow afternoon, before this system departs to the east. so don't be surprised by the sound of thunder during the next 18-24 hours or so.
starting on tuesday... things will improve. although there will still be enough instability to stir up some random showers and thundershowers, rain chances will generally drop to around 20% for the midde and latter parts of the week. the overall weather pattern will finally shift toward something more normal for this time of year... allowing our temperatures to rebound nicely.
SUNDAY NIGHT: mostly cloudy with more rain and thunderstorms likely. windy at times.
low: 12C (54F)
MONDAY: partly to mostly cloudy, with a good chance of a few more showers and thunderstorms around the area. breezy and unseasonably cool.
high: 19C (66F)
TUESDAY: partly cloudy, with only a slight chance of a brief afternoon thundershower.
high: 21C (69F)
WEDNESDAY: sunny to partly cloudy and warming up...
high: 22C (71F)
THURSDAY: partly to mostly sunny and comfortable.
high: 22C (72F)
FRIDAY: partly cloudy skies.
