it's mostly cloudy before sunrise this morning, with a temp of 57.2F (14C)... and i have a fresh 0.08" (2mm) in the rain gauge, thanks to a couple of rounds of thunderstorms overnight. in fact, thunder and lightning were quite intense during the wee hours, with some gusty winds as well. total rainfall during the past 24 hours is now 0.13" (3mm).
satellite photos this morning show the wave of energy which passed through overnight is now moving east of us... but the main center of the upper-level disturbance remains to our west over northern pakistan. there will be at least another couple of "waves" of energy ejecting out of this system during the next 36-48 hours, which will keep us in line for more in the way of occasional showers and storms. so far, rainfall amounts have been very light, but i still think a total of 1cm (nearly a 1/2 inch) of rain is a good bet by tuesday night. there will probably be a couple of showers/thundershowers around on wednesday, but in general, precipitation chances will be dropping during the latter half of the week.
as rain chances diminish, temperatures will be on the rise. the coolish weather of today and tuesday will gradually be replaced by more seasonal warmth by thursday and friday.
