i was stunned to find 1.65" (4.2cm) in my rain gauge this morning... i knew we had one heck of a storm overnight, but i didn't expect the rainfall to be that heavy, already!! our pre-sunrise temp is 57F (13.9C), with cloudy skies and some scattered light showers in the area.
*7:00am... my fellow weathergeeks just above the main temple have reported exactly 1.50" (3.8cm) of rain overnight.
*7:15am... 1.14" (2.9cm) from our wxgeek reporter in naddi village.
the latest satellite pictures and weather charts are showing a storm system that looks much more like something we would see in mid-winter, as opposed to mid-spring... in terms of its sheer dynamic energy. right now, the center of circulation is over northern pakistan, with a very strong flow of moisture from the arabian sea feeding northeastward up ahead of it. it will take until late tomorrow for this system to move out of here... and that means more showers and thunderstorms are likely, along with occasionally strong and gusty winds. there will probably be some good breaks between the bouts of rain and storms, but be aware that more heavy rain, thunder and lightning could rapidly develop anytime between now and tomorrow afternoon.
temperatures will be cooler today and monday, with a very gradual warming trend expected over the course of the remainder of the week. it also looks like we'll see a major shift in the overall weather pattern, which holds some promise of ending the month in finer fashion...
SUNDAY: clouds, perhaps a few peeks of sun. occasional showers and thunderstorms likely, with gusty winds at times. very cool!
