it's been a 100% cloudy day, but despite the overcast, there have only been a few random sprinkles thus far. the high temp barely reached 55F (12.7C). i just noticed that an avalanche warning has been issued for the upper mountains of himachal (lahaul and spiti) as the snow begins to pile up there.
our storm system is now centered over the southwest corner of afghanistan.. and out ahead of it there is a massive area of clouds, rain, snow and even a few thunderstorms. this is what is heading our way for the first half of the coming week. the shower and thunderstorm action could begin anytime here in mcleod ganj... but the window of opportunity for the heaviest rain appears to be from sunday into mid-day tuesday. the wind will pick up as well... although it may not be quite as fierce as it was last weekend.
temperatures should remain too warm for snow here in mcleod until perhaps monday night or tuesday, when we could see some sleet and snow mixed in with the rain. it will be a different story in the higher elevations, with at least a foot of snow expected above 2300m (7500ft) before all is said and done.
depending on power/internet connections... i will try to post frequent updates on the *HAPPENING NOW* page (tab above)...
