infrastructural meltdown... (am.7.feb.11)>

*check HAPPENING NOW tab above for update*

i apologize for the delay in updating the weather situation... but i lost both my internet connection and my back-up during the wee hours of the morning, and haven't been able to get online. not to mention the lack of power. i know most of us are in the same boat.

these winds have certainly been ferocious, but we still have very little rain to show for all the noise and drama.  thus far, the vast majority of the precipitation associated with this system has remained to our north and west, in the higher mountains.  very heavy snow continues to fall from northern pakistan though much of kashmir and ladakh, and into the himachal ranges as well.  the air remains quite warm below 2500m (8200ft), so there's still not much new snow below triund.

the central circulation of this storm will move across northern india this afternoon and tonight.  right now, there is a large area of rain and thunderstorms developing just to our west, and moving slowly toward the east.  those darn computer models are STILL showing heavy rain for us during the next 18 hours or so... so this may be our last chance to actually get some decent precipitation out of this.  we are not out of the woods just yet...

i will try to post updates... but right now i'm limited by my internet access...  thanks to those of you providing reports!
