we have clouds, fog and light rain showers in mcleod ganj prior to sunrise this morning, with a temp of just 39.2F (4C). despite the rumbling thunder and occasional showers overnight, i am measuring just 2mm (.08") of rain thus far.
heavy snow has been falling since yesterday afternoon in the mountains of kashmir, ladakh and himachal pradesh, adding to the heavy snowfall which occurred on wednesday and thursday. also, a band of heavy rain and thunderstorms swept from punjab through southern himachal overnight... which we caught the northern edge of. this morning's satellite pics indicate that most of the organized storminess has now moved to our east, but we are left with lots of low clouds, fog, and lingering showers in its wake.
as i've been mentioning for days now... we are truly stuck in a pattern that refuses to relent. although we will likely see a bit of improving weather on sunday into early monday, yet another "wiggle" in the jetstream is scheduled for late monday into wednesday of next week... bringing more clouds and increasing rain chances. this pattern will also prevent the warm air building further south on the subcontinent from making its way northward anytime soon...
SATURDAY: cold, with clouds, fog and a mixture of rain and snow showers. light accumulations likely in naddi and dharamkot, and upper parts of mcleod ganj and bhagsu. some clearing during the PM...
high: 7C (44F)
SATURDAY NIGHT: becoming clear to partly cloudy... but chilly.
low: 4C (40F)
SUNDAY: partly cloudy skies, with a slight chance of a brief shower. milder.
