rain potential... (am.20.feb.11)>

we have partly cloudy skies just prior to sunrise this morning, with a temp of 43F (6.1C).  no rainfall recorded overnight.

still waiting for this rather weak weather disturbance to move through and exit the area during the next 24 hours.  satellite photos are showing a large, well-organized area of cloudiness just to our west... extending from northern kashmir through most of central and northern pakistan, down into western gujurat... moving eastward.  that means we are in line for thickening cloud cover this morning, and an increasing chance of some showers and possibly a few thundershowers.  it still looks like precipitation should be on the light side, for the most part, with several inches (up to a foot) of snow in the higher elevations and passes.

monday and tuesday will be the best days of the upcoming forecast period... with some sunshine and milder temps, but then yet another round of rain and mountain snow is scheduled for wednesday and thursday, along with cooling temps again...
