light rain is falling just before sunset, and i am measuring exactly 0.50" (1.3cm) for the day's total thus far. our temperatures have barely moved... we've been stuck between about 44F and 46F (6.7 to 7.7C) since early morning. the snow line remains very high... around triund or perhaps a little below.
i don't have much in the way of improvement to report... our upper-level trough of low pressure is sitting almost stationary over afghanistan, and will move only very slowly eastward during the next 48-72 hours. ahead of this system, plenty of moisture is being drawn northward from the arabian sea, while cold air is gradually seeping southward into the western himalayan region. that means things aren't going to get much better anytime soon... we'll continue to see periods of light to moderate rain, along with a lowering snow line, which could end up in our neighborhood eventually. the good news is that the WIND hasn't been much of a factor, and so far, we've escaped the thunder and lightning. maybe that will keep us from ending up without electricty for long periods, as we saw this time last week.
a return to drier, milder and generally more pleasant weather is possible by the end of the week... but get used to the cool temps and wet weather in the meantime.
SUNDAY NIGHT: cloudy with occasional rain. some thunder late?
low: 6C (43F)
MONDAY: mostly cloudy skies. periods of rain, along with possible thunderstorms. cold...
high: 9C (48F)
TUESDAY: mostly cloudy and cold with rain showers... possibly mixing with sleet or snow.
high: 8C (47F)
WEDNESDAY: mostly cloudy skies... still cold. good chance of rain and/or snow showers.
high: 8C (46F)
THURSDAY: partly to mostly cloudy with a few light rain or snow showers possible.
high: 9C (49F)
FRIDAY: a mix of clouds and sun. slight chance of a PM shower. warming a bit...
high: 11C (52F)
