cloudy this evening... we've had 100% overcast since about 1:00pm. there were some nice periods of sunshine through the high clouds this morning, though, and that boosted our high temp to 52.7F (11.5C) here at the top of mcleod ganj.
the satellite pics are quite a mess right now... lots of clouds... mostly of the middle and high variety, extending from the persian gulf all the way into northern india. this is an indication of the very extensive area of disturbed weather in the upper atmosphere that will be our dominant weather feature for this entire week. we should see some peeks of sun from time to time, but overall, it will be a cloudy scenario through friday, with increasing chances of scattered showers and thundershowers. i still think wednesday and thursday will be the worst days this week... but stay tuned... as the exact timing of the periodic waves of nasty weather could shift 12 hours either forward or backward.
there will be more widespread heavy snowfall in the himalayas this week... in fact, it was already snowing again up at triund this afternoon. this time, i think the snow line will have a hard time getting all the way down to mcleod... but considering the ultra-cold nature of this late winter of 2011, it would be prudent to keep on top of the developing situation...
MONDAY NIGHT: mostly cloudy and breezy at times. chance of a shower or thundershower developing.
low: 7C (44F)
TUESDAY: some brief periods of sun, otherwise mostly cloudy. a couple of showers or thundershowers are possible.
high: 11C (52F)
WEDNESDAY: mostly cloudy with a good chance of a few periods of showers and thunderstorms.
high: 10C (50F)
THURSDAY: mostly cloudy. periods of rain and thunderstorms likely.
high: 10C (50F)
FRIDAY: partly to mostly cloudy... still a good chance of a few showers around.
high: 11C (51F)
SATURDAY: isolated showers?? otherwise increasing amounts of sunshine. a bit milder.
high: 12C (53F)
