Temperatures soared today -- relatively speaking. Both the morning low and the afternoon high were a couple of degrees (F) milder than expected, and lots more comfortable than the temps we were experiencing just a couple of days ago. Other than a few PM cumulus clouds over the mountains, we had sunny skies today, and it remains mostly clear at sunset.
There is very little weather drama to look forward to during the coming week (which is OK), as a generally flat and uneventful jet stream pattern dominates across the western Himalayan region. There are going to be a few weak upper-level disturbances drifting through the area, but they'll mostly go unnoticed, apart from occasional periods of cloudiness which shouldn't last for more than a few hours at a time. Computer models are hinting at a more moist atmosphere developing next week, but at this point it doesn't look like we'll be able to come up with any measurable rain or snowfall as we approach the middle of the month.
Our temperatures have returned to seasonal norms (and even slightly above) more quickly than I was expecting, and could moderate even further over the course of the coming 4-5 days. Tibetan Losar starts on Monday, and it seems that things will be on the quiet and comfortable side this year, which isn't always the case!
