wildcard weekend... (pm.9.sep.11)>

a beautiful evening is in progress, for the moment at least.  the rain was pretty much non-stop until about 4pm, but it was generally in the light to moderate category, with an additional 0.58" (1.5cm) since 6:30am.  after that, skies cleared rapidly, with some stunning, crisp views all around.  we managed a high temp of just 70.0F (21.1C)... by my records, the coolest day of the month so far.

it's hard to tell if we're getting just a break in the action, or whether this latest surge of monsoon conditions has come to an end.  satellite pics show most of the rain and thunder moving out, but there is a bit of new development which may affect us later this evening or overnight.  computer models insist on more rainfall accumulation, on the order of 2-3cm (1") at least... so be aware that the rain could start up again at any time.

late tomorrow into the first part of next week, it appears we will shift into a weaker phase of the monsoon... so expect longer stretches of dry weather to return, along with a bit more sun and a bit less fog.  of course, the risk of tropical downpours will remain in the forecast, but they should be of shorter duration, with daily rainfall rates diminishing.
