today's high temp: 75F (23.9C)
rainfall as of 9:00pm: 0.51" (1.3cm)
we've had the usual mix today of mid- and high clouds, glimpses of sunshine, and by mid-afternoon, increasing fog, along with the development of some light to moderate rain. light rain continues to fall at the moment (5:45pm), so check back here for an updated tally later this evening when i am within reach of the gauge again.
despite the couple of hours of truly nice weather earlier today, satellite photos have been looking ominous... with lots of development along the dhauladhars, and another area of widespread rain and thunderstorms blossoming to our south across punjab, haryana and southern himachal. this action to our south is drifting northward, and may affect us overnight.
as mentioned for the last few days, the latter half of this week is still looking much wetter than the first half. tropical moisture is surging again, aided by a mid-level wind field favorable for moderate to heavy rainfall on the southwestern slopes of the himalayan ranges. expect periods of rain for the remainder of the week, with a good chance for some very hefty totals (12cm/5"+) by the time saturday rolls around... and that may be on the conservative side.
of course there will be some breaks in the action here and there, which will (hopefully) include some peeks of sunshine.
