it's shaping up to be a beautiful sunny morning. our overnight low temp has been 61.9F (16.6C), and we've had 0.15" (4mm) of rain in the past 24 hours... most of which occurred between 2:30 and 5:00pm yesterday.
there is a complete absence of clouds this morning from afghanistan through all of northern india, and water vapor satellite imagery indicates that the back edge of deep monsoon moisture has now pushed all the way into central uttar pradesh. of course lingering low-level moisture remains strung out all along the himalayan chains... and that's what has been responsible for the continued development of clouds and fog, along with a few isolated showers during the afternoons. this is a feature that is pretty much ignored by the computer models, but obviously significant for us. it's like we have one foot IN and one foot OUT of monsoon conditions... and i'm afraid we will have to endure the afternoon gloom and dampness until all of this left-over moisture is scoured out of the lower atmosphere.
the afternoon showers will be light.. we've only had 0.48" (1.2cm) of rain in the past four days... but the mornings will be the best time for enjoying the sunshine and drying out. i'm still optimistically removing the rain altogether by the weekend. we'll see...
WEDNESDAY: sunny this morning. becoming partly to mostly cloudy around noon, with a good chance of some fog, along with a shower or two.
high: 23C (74F)
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: any light showers ending during the evening... then clearing.
low: 16C (62F)
THURSDAY: lots of morning sun. partly to mostly cloudy by the afternoon with a risk of a shower.
high: 23C (74F)
FRIDAY: sunny in the morning, partly cloudy in the afternoon.
