i was nearly convinced that we were going to end up with a rare dry day, when suddenly the skies opened up and we got a fairly heavy downpour, starting just before 5:00pm. it is still raining (rather heavily) at the time of this writing,...will report back with a rainfall total later this evening. although visibility was good for most of the day, clouds were still the dominant feature, with a high temp of 72.5F (22.5C), and humidity generally in the 80-90% range.
*update @ 715pm... i received exactly 0.50" (1.3cm) of rain here at the top of mcleod ganj between 450 and 615pm.*
what happened late this afternoon/evening, is a perfect example of why, despite some nice periods of dry/fogless weather, we are not yet to the place where we can say that the monsoon has left us. tropical moisture (in abundance) remains, and will continue to manifest itself in areas of thick fog... and rung out of the atmosphere in the form of moderate to heavy downpours on occasion. of course the periods of sunshine and clear visibility give us hope that the tide will turn in due course. if you're interested, updates on the withdrawal of monsoon 2011 will be posted on the tab MONSOON'S DEMISE, at the top of the page.
it does look like the trend in the next 2-3 days will be toward a greater proportion of dry hours... but there are indications that we could see another wave/surge of deep moisture and heavy rainfall once again by the middle of the coming week. stay tuned...

high: 23C (73F)
MONDAY: partly sunny skies. good chance of a PM shower.

TUESDAY: glimpses of sun in the midst of clouds and occasional fog. good chance of a couple of mainly PM rain showers.
high: 23C (73F)
WEDNESDAY: partly to mostly cloudy with periods of fog and rain.
high: 22C (72F)
